Pipe end caps (butt weld caps) are fittings used to permanently close the end of a pipe, providing a pressure-tight seal. The standard cap is ellipsoidal (2:1 semi-elliptical) shaped β offering excellent pressure containment with uniform stress distribution. Torispherical caps (also called dished ends) are used for lower pressure applications and vessels. Flat caps are used for low-pressure or non-pressure applications.
Manufactured from seamless or welded pipe/plate through hot pressing (forging) or spinning processes. Butt weld ends with standard bevelling per ASME B16.25 for welding to matching pipe. Available in carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy steel grades for diverse service conditions.
